First Smokey Comic in Over 50 Years!

Dren Productions is proud to announce the official launch of its Kickstarter campaign for Smokey’s Junior Rangers, an all-ages comic series starring one of America’s most iconic heroes. This marks the first officially licensed Smokey Bear comic book in decades, created in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to inspire a new generation of readers to care for the environment and prevent wildfires. The campaign goes live on July 8th, but you can preview it now!

Smokey Bear has long been a symbol of conservation and fire prevention, and now, with Smokey’s Junior Rangers, he’s taking on a new mission: leading a group of enthusiastic kids on adventures filled with action, education, and heart. Together, they’ll explore the wonders of nature, face the dangers of careless behavior, and learn what it truly means to protect our forests.
“This series is about more than nostalgia,” said James Mascia, publisher at Dren Productions. “It’s about introducing Smokey’s message to a new audience—through compelling stories, great art, and characters young readers can grow with. And we’re thrilled to have the support of the U.S. Forest Service as we bring this vision to life.”
The Kickstarter campaign offers a range of rewards for backers, including exclusive variant covers, educational resources, collectible patches, and more. Stretch goals will unlock additional stories and bonus content.
This launch follows the announcement earlier this year that Dren Productions had secured the license to develop new Smokey Bear comics, a deal that made headlines across the comics industry:
